Brand new Doctor Who

I just saw some pictures of the season 5 Doctor Who set. The Doctor is gonne be played by a new guy named Matt Smith, who I do not know. I hope he’s gonne do a good job. The last one who played the doctor, David Tennant, got a best actor award for it. And I must say I enjoyed watching the funny guy on the my screen.
The new Doctor is also having a new side kick, but they are new in almost every season. She is played by Karen Gillan.

I am really looking forward to the new season, I’m in need of a Doctor!

And then this great game came along

Well out of the blue my friend came over and started to tell me about this new RTS game he had. It was called Dawn of War II (DoWII), it’s a sequel to a game I played a while ago on a Lanparty. The first one didn’t really got my attention longer than 2 days. But part 2 is much better.
It plays out in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, it’s a mix of Lord of the rings and Starwars. If you want to compare it to an other game, I could only say that Warcraft III is a bit in the direction. But let’s take it as a starting point. Take a cup of Battlefield tactics, Gears of War covering possibilities and Red Faction environmentals together and stir it up till it’s RTS. Then put that into the game, and don’t make the mistake of thinking that you need to build bases, this game is not Simcity.

How Great Thou Art

From the thousand in one row casual blond idol winning young girls, to mister populair and the king himself everybody who has growen up in an evangelical culture knows the number ‘How great thou art‘. It’s a christian hymn written by Carl Gustav Boberg in 1885. Personally I’m not such a fan of old hymns, it’s just not my thing, I miss the musical muscle in it. Especially when the lyrics are about rolling thunders, burdens & shouts of acclamation. Well the guys of Becoming the Archetype must have thought the same, and made this awsome cover. Check it out…

I hope Carl likes it :)

FLAME! DEATH! DESTRUCTION!

FLAME! DEATH! DESTRUCTION!” is what she was shouting while spreading things around letting the 40 man raid party experience exactly what she just shouted. Yes, secretly Ragnaros was a female.

I’ve seen many male gamers playing computergames in my life, and I must say gamers can be agressive, especially when it comes to tactics, playing wars or other testosterone related things. They are able to shout, flame and /spit on each other while afterwards they’re all off, getting fish & chips as best friends. But what I don’t see with male gamers is huge reactions with situations ->in<- the games. They are always very calm and relaxed during the biggest events. Throwing nukes, kniving someone down and winning world wars. I was kinda used to that.

Until a certain young lady sat down, took my x-box 360 controller and started up Fable II.

My expectations where… well.. that she would love to do things with all the kiss, hug, flower & chat functions in the game. But after 1 hour she really shocked me! She was killing, flaming, slicing mobs all over the game and not in a silent way. I really think the neighbours may have thought Red Alert was becoming reality. I really do not want to meet her after some training of the master.

I learned something that day. Girls are not into the whole competition thing males like so much. That’s why lots of them only see the blood on the chainsaw and tell us it’s having a bad influence. While the males see the triumph of victory in the battle for humanity played out over x-box live, we Pwn our enemy, we rule them, it’s all for the glorious honor, that of winning the competition! But when the ice breaks for the girls, and the female gets the controller, it’s only the gore on the blade that counts.

Playing Wow again :)

It has been a long time, almost 2 years I think, that I logged out with Gelmarion for the last time. But after so many months playing the xbox, doing other things and let’s not forget the marrying I’m back…

Bioshock 2 in the build

I was really amazed to hear that Bioshock 2 is in development.  Bioshock 1 was the first game I played on my x-box 360. I really had a great time playing the game, it was amazing. The game was a spiritual successor of the game System Shock (which I have never played). And it made me really think of Deus Ex, well what Eideos wanted Deus Ex to be.  I thought the idee of Deus Ex was great but finally the game kind of sucked a bit, it was only a bit fun because of the good concept. Later on we had Deus Ex 2,  a bit better. But with Bioshock the combination of a good First Person Shooter and an Role Play Game was born :)

Big Daddy helping a little sister

And now there is gonna be a sequel to the game. There is not much known about it yet. I found some predictions about the storyline, but they where not compatible with each other. The first one told me you would be a Big Daddy 7 years before the story of the first game took place. And the other website also told me you where gonna play a Big Daddy, but then after the story of the first game. And in this description there was a bit more info than just the timeline and what we would be. It was also telling us that there would be Big Sisters kidnapping little children all around the planet, and we needed to stop that with our Big drillers. If this would be true, I guess we will get a Big fight between a Big Daddy and a Big Sister in a freakin’ Big game!

The lost and damned

One more dilemma I found myself in, the new expansion of GTA IV. It’s called The lost and damned, it’s a completely  new storyline about a bikers gang in Liberty City. The main character in the game has the same name as me and that’s a sign from above that I had to play this game, so I downloaded it with my X-Box 360. For one week I’ve been playing it now, hadn’t got much time so I still have not finished it. And besides the time problem, it keeps crashing. I’ve never  had that with any game on the box. And as murphy predicts, it always crashes 1 sec before I can save the game after playing a 30 min’s mission. I’ve been playing on this frustrating way for the last week till I finally found the fix. I had to install the game on my harddisk. So now I’m looking forward to the second half of the game without the crashing.
